The Principal, Systems Engineer owns and runs the enterprise-grade IP-to-DUNS mapping capability that underpins core customer deliverables and multiple downstream product lines.
The Principal, Systems Engineer is accountable for reliable execution: operating and improving existing pipelines, maintaining mapping quality through internet churn, and ensuring secure, stable infrastructure.
The Principal, Systems Engineer works closely with product, data science, and customer teams, provides task-level guidance to junior analysts supporting mapping validation and quality operations, and supports evaluation of third-party IP-to-business data sources from both technical and commercial perspectives
Responsibilities
Own the end-to-end technical execution of the IP-to-DUNS mapping lifecycle, including data ingestion, normalization, validation, enrichment, quality control, and delivery packaging.
Produce high-quality IP-to-business attribution by combining internet-layer signals (e.g., BGP/ASN changes, DNS patterns, hosting footprints, OSINT sources, routing shifts) and applying well-defined rules to resolve conflicting signals while maintaining mapping stability.
Define, apply, and enforce data-quality standards for internet-signal-based entity resolution to ensure stable, DUNS-aligned outputs for downstream consumers, including product pipelines and risk or fraud use cases.
Operate, monitor, and continuously improve automated pipelines that refresh IP attribution and entity resolution at scale, focusing on accuracy, latency, reliability, and recoverability.
Maintain systems that track IP block changes and infrastructure volatility (e.g., routing, BGP, ASN shifts, and related signals) to keep the IP-to-DUNS mapping asset current.
Deploy, operate, and tune internet-facing infrastructure across bare-metal and VPS environments, as well as data engineering workloads on Google Cloud Platform.
Write, review, and maintain data-processing and automation code (primarily Python, with Go, Rust, or Bash as a plus) following coding standards and operational best practices.
Implement and uphold operational security controls across infrastructure and pipelines, including secure configurations, least-privilege access, encryption, network segmentation, and audit logging.
Design and operate testing frameworks, benchmarking, quality gates, and observability to evaluate third-party IP intelligence vendors, protect mapping integrity, and support incident response and troubleshooting.
Provide task-level leadership and subject-matter guidance to junior engineers and analysts, establishing clear workflows, documentation, prioritization, and contributing as a domain partner on related internet-domain efforts
Education
Bachelor's Degree Required
Master's Degree Preferred
Skills Needed
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering or a related field
At least 12 years of experience in in internet infrastructure, IP intelligence, network/systems engineering, or closely related technical disciplines.
Deep working knowledge of ASNs, BGP, DNS, routing behavior, IP geolocation concepts, and global internet topology applied in real-world production environments.
Strong SQL expertise (preferably PostgreSQL), including complex querying, filtering, merging, and function development for large-scale data analysis.
Hands-on experience deploying, operating, and securing bare-metal and VPS infrastructure with strong Linux fundamentals.
Experience deploying, operating, and securing data engineering workloads on Google Cloud Platform; familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform preferred.
Strong programming and automation skills using Python; experience with Go, Rust, or Bash is an advantage.
Proven ability to evaluate third-party IP intelligence and OSINT data sources using both technical signal quality and commercial considerations.
Strong cross-layer troubleshooting skills across network, system, and data-processing layers, including coordination with junior engineers or analysts.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite skills.
Show an ownership mindset in everything you do; be a problem solver, be curious and be inspired to take action, be proactive, seek ways to collaborate and connect with people and teams in support of driving success.
